Today, we have Caspian giving us the dish on SXSW:

SXSW Interview Questions:

1. Where/When are you playing?
Our official show is Sunday the 22nd at Red7 for the Radar Recordings Party with other Radar bands (Junius, Constants, Adai) and other similiar acts like Pelican, Tombs, Wolves In The Throneroom and others. It’s not an officially sanctioned SXSW event. It is an independent offering.

2. How did you get your SXSW gig?
We are part of the Radar Recordings family.

3. Is this your first time at SXSW?
This will be our 2nd year there.

4. If you’ve gone before, how did it go?
Last year was our introduction to SXSW and we very much enjoyed the
experience. The Radar party at Red7 last year was pretty epic and this
year looks to be just as tremendous.

5. How important do you think it is to have an “official” showcase?
Hard to say since we’ve never really had one there. In terms of the
music industry presence at the festival, it seems like a collection of
record execs and advertising people walking around talking bull shit
and taking advantage of the random open bar, though there are always
exceptions. We don’t go down to SXSW to get signed or play in front of
big record labels or booking agencies, we just go to hang out with our
comrades and escape the MA winter doldrums. And Austin is a great city
to be in whenever the opportunity presents itself.

6. What do you hope to achieve by playing at SXSW?
First and foremost we are looking forward to playing for our fans in
Austin who we haven’t seen in a year. Second, we’re excited about
being under one roof and playing with bands we are close friends with.
Third, we like Texas BBQ. We’ll be achieving all of those goals (and
many more) at SXSW again this year.

7. How do you plan to use the conference (beyond your show) to promote
yourself?
We just finished our new record, so we’ll be using our show (on a
“promotional level”) to generate interest for the release in various
different ways.

8. Are you attending any of the actual conference? Are you attending
other shows, what shows/bands are you looking forward to?
I haven’t taken a good look at the schedule yet so I can’t say. I heard Primal Scream is playing and they are one of the “bigger” bands I’d be curious to check out if possible.

9. Do you expect that Boston will have a strong showing this year?

Definitely.
