Sophia’s Rock Beat : week of 06/20/2011

On 6/20 Special Friends aired our first episode at The Rosebud. The night was also video taped for a future episode and friends were asked to sing open-mic style songs about Star Wars. We had no idea that these songs would be incredibly awesome!

Here they a few of them! There will be a few others will also make it into the episode!
Tanya Palit doing “Jedi Mind Tricks (My Heart has a Dark Side)

and Seth William Chatfield –doing “Solo Flying Solo”

on 6/22 we ventured to Church for the Somerville Symphony Orkestar CD Release – I got three videos of them (1, 2, 3) and one video of their openers The Klezwoods.

6/23 we were back at Church because Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling was on the bill! Doomstar! opened the night (video 1, video 2) – we were both opening up for touring bands White Fence (video) & The Strange Boys (video).

And 6/24 we made it to the Rosebud to catch Gene Dante & The Future Starlets – which featured Gene in all of his shirtless glory – (video 1, video 2). Muy Cansado – which featured Chris in all of his suited glory! –  they did an awesome New Order cover that I was sad I didn’t have the camera running for – but got two videos nonetheless! (video 1, video 2). Sarah RabDAU & Self-Employed Assassins closed out the evening – they are a four piece now and I’m newly blown away by them everytime I see them – Peter Moore actually “played” a music stand during a song (sadly, also did not catch that on tape either!) – video 1, video 2.

That wraps up an exciting week of shows!
