MJEML is house band for The Encyclopedia Show Season 3: Insects! Tonight (9/10/15)

https://www.facebook.com/events/1417573511873695/

We’ll kick off our third season with some creepy-crawly fun! And there will be art about insects, too.

Hosted by Chloé Cunha and Rob Crean, featuring Steve Subrizi as the Intern and Wes Hazard as the Questionable Expert, and withstanding Jade Sylvan/Jack van Sly as our Fact Checker from the Institute of Human Knowledge and Hygiene. Musical support provided by the Michael J. Epstein Memorial Library.

In addition, we are pleased to welcome a monthly selection of artists to the Show, including:

JESS RIZKALLAH, writer, illustrator, and coffee-slinger, will have some things to say about Praying Mantises;

JOSH ELBAUM, man of mystery and beloved poet, will come down on us with the might of the Tarantula Hawk;

TAWANDA GONA, local comedic favorite, will make us all laugh about Bees;

BRAD SHUR, versatile puppeteer and Resident Artist at Puppet Showplace Theater will perform some impressive puppetry about Cockroaches;

SUNDOG, an amazing live-looping, multi-instrument-playing musician, will enchant us with a song about the Walking Stick;

NOAH WILSON-RICH, biologist, New York Times contributor, two-time TedX speaker, and founder of the Best Bee Company, will school us all on Bees;

SHARI CAPLAN, poet, actress, and Director of The Theatre of Words & Music, will teach us the ways of the Moon Moth;

and PHIL BERMAN will bring us a lovely Insect Song, to remind us all why insects matter!

The Encyclopedia Show Somerville is an event franchised from the original series founded in Chicago in 2008, wherein invited artists from a variety of performance disciplines present all-new, original works on sub-topics of a single theme. A recurring cast of hosts and characters welcomes the artists with open arms and minds, while the resident Fact Checker is charged with maintaining the integrity of the Encyclopedic Truth of the show.

Our doors open at 7:00 for socializing in the theater bar.
The show itself will begin at 8:00 sharp.

This is an all ages show! (Suggested 14+ for strong language and vague sexuality.)
$10 admission / $7 for students and teachers.

As always, we are located at The Davis Square Theater in the eponymous Square, 255 Elm St. (same door as Saloon). For directions: http://bostonpoetryslam.com/encyclopediashow/directions-to-the-encyclopedia-show

Produced by Catherine Martin and the Boston Poetry Slam.
