I just watched the movie Primer tonight. It was a pretty great dizzying foray into time paradoxes and layers of actions that don’t quite ever make sense to the audience. We’re only shown pieces of a puzzle. I imagine some might complain the events are meaningless, but I think with a movie like this, the lack of observer knowledge and lack of apparent completeness to the story make it much more compelling than the typical show-all, tell-all approach to filmmaking.
I am unsure whether I should try to watch it again to better understand the order of things or accept the film as intentionally fragmented and as an experience that should feel incomplete and perplexing.
