I’m going to throw a sentence at you, and don’t let your brain explode: Amanda Palmer has returned to her high school to create a play with her former drama teacher, Steven Bogart, inspired by Neutral Milk Hotel’s In the Aeroplane Over The Sea and starring twenty Lexington High School students. It’s a totally bizarre concept that sounds totally awesome.
The play’s title is With The Needle That Sings In Her Heart.
From the press release: “In the show itself, Palmer plays a variety of instruments while various cast members share the vocal duties. But Palmer
insists that this show should not be classified as a musical, “it’s a play that uses music, but it’s not a musical…””
Details: presented on May 7th, 8th and 9th at the Lexington High School
Auditorium. All ages, $10.00.
Doors at 7:00 p.m., show time 7:30 (with a matinee on the 9th)
Tickets are available now at amandapalmer.net/tour
Order your tickets now, these shows will definitely sell out, and soon.
We’ll have our take on the play posted soon after May 9th.
Update: The Bostonist has an interview with Amanda Palmer about the play, link.
