This article originally appeared on Boston Band Crush ). Anarchy Club started up the night with their tight hard rock (ala Helmet). Izzy played a Hello Kitty guitar, I think they need to take this further and have everyone play Hello Kitty instruments that would be awesome.
Muy Cansado kept things rocking on. I really liked their dual male/female vocals, the shouty numbers and the bouncy songs. Definitely will be checking them out again.
Then the young guys in Dead Cats Dead Rats reminded us all why we liked flannel, playing their grunge influenced rock music.
Then Sarah Rabdau and Self-Employed Assassins took the stage. I knew they were going to be good, but they were really awesome. Sarah and Matt Graber are excellent musicians; they were hypnotically tight nailing stops and starts with ease. They also have an excellent stage rapport—they set up the drums and keys to face each other, and I swear they communicate telepathically. They took a well-deserved win for night four.
