2009 Rumble Questions:
Are you excited to be participating in the 31st WBCN Rock ‘n’ Roll Rumble?
Absolutely, the Rumble has a long history here in Boston and we are really happy to be part of it again. For myself and bass player Jamie Griffith, it’ll be our second rumble appearance – and technically for drummer John Lynch it’ll be his third (since he’s in the Neighborhoods who were special guests last year).
Are you afraid of the Rumble curse?
No, not at all, since for the curse to take effect you have to win – and we’re pretty sure we’re not going to win.
Do you plan on doing anything special or different for your set?
The only thing special is that guitarist John Brookhouse bought a new Dean Explorer for the event – and covered it in fur.
How far do you think you’ll progress in the competition?
If the judges are old and jaded, pretty far – if they are young shoe-gazer Coldplay fans, not very far.
What’s your bet on who will make it to the finals?
We are playing with a band called the Have Nots who are really good – I think they have a good chance on winning the whole thing.
Are there any bands you would have picked for the line up this year that didn’t get in?
The Kickback and the Boston Beat Machine
What band is your favorite past winner?
I have to go with the Neighborhoods in ’79 and the Bags in ’89 – both great bands.
What past competitor do you think was most robbed?
Gotta say The Dents and perpetuate the outrage.
Any final words or smacktalk before the battle begins?
No – just Let the Music Do the Talkin’
