This article originally appeared on Boston Band Crush ). If you’re like me, you may have tried to write off The Cardigans based on the song “Lovefool” thinking they were a cutesy throwaway. However, we got it all wrong. This is a band known for their covers of Black Sabbath. Their last album, Super Extra Gravity, is a personal favorite, especially the song “I Need Some Fine Wine and You, You Need to Be Nicer” (go watch the video here)
This long-winded explanation is to tell you that The Cardigans’ front-woman Nina Persson has a side-project called A Camp.
Also in the band is fellow Swede Niclas Frisk and Shudder to Think guitarist Nathan Larson. They are currently touring behind their new album, Colonia. The album features guest appearances by members of Beirut, The Arcade Fire, James Iha (Tinted Windows, Smashing Pumpkins) on guitar, Kevin March (Dambuilders, Guided By Voices) on drums and Joan Wasser (Joan as Policewoman) on viola and violin.
