Bart & Bobbi Kill Each Other: Trailer, Festivals, Awards & More

Apparently, after producing two Aaron Barrocas horror-comedies, the logical thing for us to do was make another one.

We had the pleasure of producing Bart & Bobbi Kill Each Other, a horror-comedy short written, directed, and edited by Aaron Barrocas!

After nearly 30 years as roommates, Bart and Bobbi’s resentment escalates into a lethal showdown.

The six-minute film stars London Garcia as Bobbi and Michael Paul King as Bart, two longtime roommates who have managed to spend almost three decades accumulating exactly the amount of resentment you’d expect from two people who probably should have stopped living together about 29 years ago.

Sophia was the director of photography and appears briefly as Keelin, while Michael produced, handled lighting, camera, and sound. Catherine Capozzi composed the original score, David Harari was assistant director, Jazmin Ortiz worked on sound, and Alexys Paonessa handled makeup effects.

Our third round of mayhem with Aaron Barrocas

Bart & Bobbi Kill Each Other is our third horror-comedy collaboration with Aaron, following Half-Cocked and Sitting Duck.

The same core combination carried across all three films: Aaron writing/directing/editing, us producing through Launch Over, Sophia shooting, and Catherine Capozzi composing the score.

It has worked out pretty well.

Half-Cocked went on to win awards including Best Horror-Comedy Short and Best Short Script at International Horror Hotel and Best Short and Best Director at Hollywood Horrorfest. Sitting Duck had another huge festival run, including wins at HorrorHaus, the New York City Horror Film Festival, Studio City International Film Festival, and GenreBlast.

We also did an extensive Killer Shorts interview with Aaron about how we work together.

And if you’d like to see the first two films right now, both Half-Cocked and Sitting Duck were acquired for the anthology series Mother Goose’s Scary Tales and can be seen together in Episode 1 on Tubi.

So Bart & Bobbi had some family expectations to live up to.

And then Bart & Bobbi started winning things…

The film began its festival run in 2025 and has turned into a bit of a monster. Aaron counted 13 festival awards in 2025 alone, with the run continuing well into 2026.

Here’s what the homicidal roommates have accumulated so far:

  • New York City Horror Film Festival – WINNER: Best Horror Comedy Short
  • GenreBlast Film Festival – WINNER: Best Comedy Short
  • HorrorHaus Film Festival – WINNER: Best Horror-Comedy
  • HorrorHaus Film Festival – WINNER: Audience Choice Award, Best Short Film in Block
  • Horror Movie Freaks – WINNER: Best Director – Aaron Barrocas
  • Zed Fest Film Festival – Outstanding Screen Story – Aaron Barrocas
  • Zed Fest Film Festival – Outstanding Directing – Aaron Barrocas
  • Zed Fest Film Festival – Outstanding Acting Performance – London Garcia
  • Zed Fest Film Festival – Outstanding Acting Performance – Michael Paul King
  • Zed Fest Film Festival – Outstanding Producing – Sophia Cacciola & Michael J. Epstein
  • Access Film Festival – Outstanding Achievement: Comedy
  • Access Film Festival – Outstanding Achievement: Acting Duo – London Garcia & Michael Paul King
  • Shawna Shea Memorial Film Festival – WINNER: Shawna Spirit Award

The Shawna Spirit Award is an especially fun one: the festival gives it to work it feels represents a truly independent, bold, unconventional spirit, where making art is the primary reason for the creative process. That sounds about right for this one.

And the killing continued in 2026…

The festival run didn’t stop with the end of 2025.

Not bad for six and a half minutes of two people being absolutely horrible to one another.

Festival highlights

In addition to all of those awards, Bart & Bobbi Kill Each Other has played some wonderful genre festivals around the country.

Its 2025 run included the Shawna Shea Film Festival, GenreBlast, HorrorHaus, FilmQuest, New York City Horror Film Festival, Zed Fest, and more.

At FilmQuest 2025, it was selected in the Comedy, Dark Comedy & Fantasy/Horror/Sci-Fi Comedy category from a festival season that received 2,325 film and screenplay submissions. It screened in the extremely appropriately named “Tickle Your Funny Bone” block.

In 2026, it continued on to Crimson Screen in South Carolina, Holly Weird in North Hollywood, International Horror Hotel, and Studio City Film Festival.

And, of course, its GenreBlast appearance was particularly fun for us. The movie won Best Comedy Short, giving us yet another Aaron Barrocas collaboration with a GenreBlast award.

How we made it

FilmQuest also published a really excellent long-form interview with Aaron about making Bart & Bobbi Kill Each Other, and there are some fun details in there about our process.

The movie is almost entirely two people sitting in one location and arguing, which sounds simple until you have six pages of rapid-fire dialogue and want the performances and editing to keep accelerating.

We shot the central material with three cameras running simultaneously, basically sitcom-style. That allowed Aaron to preserve London and Michael’s real reactions to one another instead of rebuilding each side of the argument over and over for coverage. It also gave him a lot of freedom to make the cutting increasingly aggressive as Bart and Bobbi become less civilized.

That’s especially important here because, despite all of the blood and absurdity, the movie really depends on believing that these two people have spent decades annoying one another.

Aaron told FilmQuest that London and Michael kept the characters from turning into cartoons, making the resentment underneath all of the ridiculousness feel real.

The production also includes an alarming number of tiny visual jokes for a six-minute film, including altered products, background artwork, and a post-credits license-plate gag. So, as always, watching the background is encouraged.

Aaron even cut about a page of dialogue during editing because he wanted to get Bart and Bobbi to the central confrontation faster. We admire anyone capable of willingly removing jokes from a movie.

Catherine Capozzi scores another one

Catherine Capozzi once again composed the score, continuing the same collaboration from Half-Cocked and Sitting Duck.

For this one, Aaron deliberately avoided giving Catherine a temp track. Rather than asking her to imitate something he had already placed against the picture, he let her approach the movie on her own terms. He told FilmQuest that the resulting score essentially became another character in the film.

We have been working with Catherine on movies for a very long time, so handing her something bizarre and seeing what comes back remains one of our favorite strategies.

People seem to enjoy watching roommates destroy each other

The reviews have also been extremely nice!

Uncomfortably Dark, reviewing the film at GenreBlast, said:

“I could not stop laughing at this.”

They also praised the visuals, the performances, and especially London and Michael’s chemistry, noting that the two genuinely feel like people who have been waiting for the opportunity to unload decades of grievances on one another.

B&S About Movies similarly praised Aaron’s sharp dialogue, effects, and the movie’s constant search for new ways to keep a two-person confrontation visually moving.

We agree with all of these people, who are clearly very wise.

Congratulations to Aaron, London, Michael Paul King, Catherine, and everyone who helped us put these two deeply incompatible roommates in the same room.

Here’s hoping they never learn conflict resolution.
