Boston Band Crush Archived Article: Rumble Crush: The Finals Tonight!!!

This article originally appeared on Boston Band Crush ).

This is it. This is what it’s all boiled down to. Twenty four bands have been whittled down to the final three who will battle it out for the Rumble crown tonight!

The Middle East Downstairs

Doors: 8PM, Admission: 18+, $12

9PM: The Luxury (Wild Card)
10PM: Gene Dante and the Future Starlets
11PM: The Dirty Truckers
12AM: Special Guest – The Outlets (Rumble competitors in 1981!)

These three bands have all put on (which if you’re completely in the blue, follow this link to see our Rumble coverage so far) title winning performances so far, so it will be super interesting to see how this night turns out. We will, of course be live twittering it on the #Rumble twitter channel.

Anyway, looking back on the interviews, there are some choice prescient bits from each band, that now in retrospect are mildly interesting:

The Luxury on how far they thought they’d progress: “We’ll be wildcarded so hard that we’ll win the 2050 Rumble on the Moon.”

Gene Dante on how far he thought they’d progress: “Hey…everybody wants to win. Seriously, though, there’s no telling. The variety of acts is huge. We’ve just got to be the best at our own act. Eddie Nowik said it best: “If you’re Roxy Music and on a festival bill with Motorhead, you don’t tailor your act to sound like Motorhead. You just go out and be Roxy Music.””

The Dirty Truckers on how far they thought they’d progress: “If the judges are old and jaded, pretty far – if they are young shoe-gazer Coldplay fans, not very far.”

Specifically, that is Adam Ritchie from The Lights Out holding a sign in support of competing band, The Motion Sick. That’s the kind of love this Rumble has inspired.
