If you’re going to Wilco this weekend, go give some money to some people doing some good for the hungry (they’ll be by the merch area in the concourse):
Labels Are for Jars will partner with Wilco for their July 11 show by helping raise awareness around hunger issues in MA.
LAFJ is the brainchild of a team that includes late-night funnyman
Conan O’Brien, MLB All-Star Sean Casey, brand-imaging guru Mike
Toth, and Father Paul B. O’Brien. The team markets shirts and caps
with negative labels, such as ADDICT, GEEK, SLACKER, (and my favorite, ROCK STAR) which undermine societal labeling while raising money to fund the Cor Unum Meal Center in Lawrence, Mass., one of the poorest communities in the Bay State. The T-shirts and John Varvatos-designed caps ($20) are sold in plastic mason jars, in which buyers collect money to help feed the hungry. 100% of sales proceeds goes to the Cor Unum Meal Center, with a single $20 purchase providing a week’s worth of meals for an in-need guest.
